- Check which digital-identification method the government procedure you need actually accepts.clave.gob.es
- If using Cl@ve, choose the available basic or advanced registration route that matches your identity document.clave.gob.es
- If using an FNMT certificate, request it and complete the identity-verification method available to you.sede.fnmt.gob.es

What the official sources say
Cl@ve currently provides basic and advanced registration routes, and not all of them require an in-person visit.clave.gob.es
Basic Cl@ve registration cannot be used for every service and does not provide the same level of access as advanced registration.clave.gob.es
Cl@ve and an FNMT electronic certificate are different mechanisms. A public service may accept one, both or another supported method.clave.gob.es

- Do not promise that every foreign applicant can use the newest video-identification method; eligibility depends on the document and route.
