Steps
- Check whether a NUSS already exists for the person before requesting a new one.seg-social.es
- If no number exists, request it through TGSS/Importass or ensure the employer requests it where the employer has that obligation.seg-social.es
- Use the same number for later employment/Social Security relationships rather than seeking a new number for each job.seg-social.es

If you do not already have a number and are being hired, the employer has the official duty to request it.seg-social.es
Do I need empadronamiento?
Do not present padrón as a universal NUSS prerequisite; use the current TGSS identity/document requirements.seg-social.es
Does the number give me CatSalut coverage?
Not by itself. Healthcare entitlement is determined separately.
What gets it refused or delayed
